Resilience, Connection & Belonging

Every year, I have the beautiful opportunity to visit Camp Heroes at Nanga Bush Camp in Dwellingup, run by Zero2Hero — and I truly love coming back each time

This incredible initiative empowers young people to understand their mental health better, support their own well-being, and step into becoming advocates and leaders within their communities.

Resilience is something that’s deeply personal to me and has played a significant role in my journey. It’s a story I’m always grateful to share, especially with the Camp Heroes students.

We explored having the willingness to listen and to learn from one another. We spoke about how powerful it is to share our stories, and how connection, especially across different lived experiences, including disability and mental health, can break down barriers and create new opportunities.

You never know what might come from it… a new perspective, learning something new, discovering a passion, or even gaining a friendship that lasts a lifetime.

The highlight of the day was exploring true meaningful connection because at the end of the day, we all want and deserve to feel understood, accepted, included, and valued for exactly who we are!
